That woman, Julia, that we ran into and hung out with in Segada went missing. We found out a few days before we left. Eric, and Jill et al were to drop her off in Bagiuo. I thought she was to meet up with a friend but I am not sure. She later in the week was to meet up with Eric in Manila but never showed. He contacted the embassy. At first they didn't even know from where she disappeared. It may have even been in Manila but it turned out that she went for a hike to a neighboring town outside of Bagiuo and that is were she disappeared. They later found her body in a shallow grave by a river. Really tragic. How does this happen? She was 40, and level headed. She was also was very concerned about poverty not just in the 3rd world but in our very own United States. She talked about how her mother's African American nanny had no plumbing just at the outskirts of Pensacola, Florida. She was finish her two years in the Peace Corp in the next month and start grad school at NYU this fall in some sort of international development program. Her heart was really in the right place. Her death is really a loss.
